WELCOME TO FLORENCE Y'ALL!

Statistically speaking, there were 12 foreclosures for the 4th quarter of 2008 in Boone County, 10 bank owned properties (REO's), and 6 homes were auctioned during that quarter.  As of May 6, 2009, there were 255 single family residences listed for sale in Florence, Kentucky.

Visitors are welcomed by the "Welcome to Florence Y'ALL" water tower, which originally was intended to say "Welcome to Florence Mall", however, some legal changes needed to be made while the mall was being built, two outer lines of the "M" were altered "temporarily" and, well, Florence Y'ALL seemed appropriate and just stuck, easily seen from the Interstate 30+ years later.  The Florence Mall is quite large and offers many selections.  Bring your kids along for a fun time with activities located inside the Mall.

Florence also boasts the Turfway Park, a great place to catch some thoroughbred horse racing including the Kentucky Cup of Champions, often regarded as some of the best horce racing in the Tri-State.  Another popular adventure is the Florence Speedway for racing of "modifieds", "super dirt stocks", "late models" and action-packed fun.

Florence also offers skate parks, bike parks, dog parks, and parks with great walking trails.  The Boone County YMCA, located in Boone Woods Park, is brand new and a popular attraction here in Boone County offering indoor/outdoor swimming, exercise classes, dancing classes, basketball, you name it.  Like Golf?  Well, we have it all right here in the area.

If you're just into historical history, Dinsmore Homestead provides a glimpse into rural life in the 19th century.  If you want a little historical humor (we have a dog as our Mayor) along with old history, the nearby Rabbit Hash General Store is the place to be.  The Store has been operating since 1831, is located on the Ohio River, and frequently holds old time barn dances as well as the infamous "Old Timer's Day" once a year with great music, food and down-home fun.  Where the name comes from is still heard in many discussions around the area, and there's a movie, "Rabbit Hash - Center Of The Universe" that gives a humorous look at the town and its people.

Florence is very close to many attractions just across the River in Cincinnati, Ohio including numerous museums, the Cincinnati Reds Stadium, The Underground Railroad Museum, Paramount Kings Island and so much more.  Nearby Newport, Kentucky offers Newport on the Levee with upscale restaurants and entertainment as well as the Newport Aquarium.  In Indiana, there are three gambling casinos within easy driving distance.

Florence is a great place to live, work and play.  So come on home Y'ALL!
